Steve brings 38 years of industry experience to the Firm and is a member of the Firm’s Executive and Investment Committees. As Global Chief Financial Officer, he oversees all financial aspects of the company, works extensively in formulating and implementing new business initiatives and strategic priorities of the Firm, and oversees the legal, compliance and risk management functions of the Firm. During his tenure with the Firm, he has overseen the structuring and formation of each of Harrison Street’s open-end and closed-end real estate funds and serves on the Executive Committees of substantially all of the Firm’s joint venture relationships.

Prior to joining Harrison Street, Steve was a partner of DLA Piper US LLP, one of the world’s largest international law firms, where he served as Co-chair of the Firm’s Real Estate Fund and REIT practice groups and represented clients in connection with the structuring and formation of numerous domestic and European real estate funds, as well as multiple REIT IPOs and M&A transactions.

Steve currently serves on a number of various executive committees of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and is a member of the Development and Advisory Board of Greenhouse Scholars. He earned his B.A. in Accounting from Michigan State University, an M.B.A from Michigan State University, and a JD (with honors) from the University of Michigan.
